Aptar Beauty is the first company in the beauty and packaging industries to be recognised for its proactive approach to accessible, responsible design. It is also one of the first four major companies in France to receive the label, selected for exemplary practices in inclusive innovation.

About the Label

APF France handicap is a national organisation advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities. Its innovation department, the TechLab, specialises in inclusive design and supports companies in developing more accessible products and services by involving people with disabilities and seniors directly in the design process.

The “Inclusive Designer” label was created by TechLab in collaboration with the Technology for Change Chair at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which explores the intersection of innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. Following a rigorous audit of the tools and methods deployed in inclusive innovation, the TechLab awarded Aptar Beauty Level 1 certification under this label.

Valid for three years, this label certifies that the company meets a high standard of inclusivity in the design of its products and services, primarily by involving diverse individuals with reduced mobility, disabilities, and seniors early in the creative process. Aptar Beauty conducts collaborative ideation workshops in partnership with APF France handicap to test new packaging prototypes and existing products.

These sessions help identify concrete areas for improvement regarding user experience and formalise best practices for future packaging development.

Inclusivity at the Core of Packaging Dispensing Innovation

This certification is part of Aptar Beauty’s long-term innovation strategy, which is committed to making all beauty and personal care packaging more inclusive and empowering, enhancing the user experience for all.

“Inclusive design is central to our innovation strategy. As part of our partnership with APF France handicap, we integrate universal design principles into our development processes to create solutions accessible to all.” Marie Jacquemin, Global Consumer Insights & Ideation Manager, Aptar Beauty.

In parallel, Aptar Beauty advocates internally by attending events and programs focused on inclusion, equity and belonging, to share universal design principles across the organisation and beyond. By leading expert panels and conferences, Aptar seeks to foster a genuine culture of inclusive design and embed it sustainably into the practices of packaging and beauty industry stakeholders.

“For Aptar, inclusive innovation isn’t just a goal, it’s a mindset. By embedding universal design principles into our company culture, we empower our teams to create solutions with purpose, in a way that reflects the diversity of our global community.” Marcia Thomas, Global Chief Diversity Officer, AptarGroup

Through this initiative, Aptar Beauty reinforces its commitment to driving meaningful transformation in the beauty industry by integrating inclusive design best practices. By collaborating with dedicated partners such as APF France handicap at the early stages of development, Aptar Beauty positions inclusive design as a catalyst for positive change and a lever for sustainable innovation.
