Verescence, a global leader in luxury glass packaging for the perfumery and cosmetics industry, reaches a new milestone in its contribution to fighting climate change. Following the initial validation of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets in 2022 by SBTi under the "Well Below 2°C"

(WB2C) scenario, Verescence has raised its ambitions to align with the 1.5°C trajectory, in accordance with the strictest requirements of the Paris Agreement.

The SBTi has now validated these updated targets, confirming that they align with the latest climate science. Verescence commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 63.7% by 2034 from a 2019 base year. Verescence also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution 37.5% within the same timeframe.

"Our teams have worked to align our decarbonization roadmap with the ambition of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C. To meet these targets, we will implement widespread electrification across many of our processes in all our facilities – furnaces, feeders, and lehrs – and utilize green gas. We are also supporting our suppliers in reducing their carbon footprints," explained Thomas Riou, CEO of Verescence.

The SBTi, a corporate climate action organization, whose partners include CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), sets the global standard for science-based climate targets and ensures companies’ commitments align with the latest climate science.

With this validation, Verescence reaffirms its commitment to CSR and its determination to accelerate decarbonization within the glass industry.
