A milestone to celebrate: Lumson marks its 50th birthday
In 1975, in a small town near Cremona (Italy), Remo Moretti’s determination and foresight drove him to create Lumson. The company started out as a small manufacturer of cosmetic packaging, and now prides itself on having become one of Italy’s leaders in the industry.
Combining design, manufacturing, efficiency, and custom solutions, Lumson is also a pioneer in the introduction of a new entrepreneurial model, based on the direct and indirect control of all processes, to which it applies strict quality criteria to ensure that each phase of design and production is top-notch.
In 2018, Remo Moretti’s son Matteo took the reins of the company, with a solid commitment to retaining those same values whilst also keeping a close and keen eye on future trends and innovations.
Speaking about the 50th anniversary of the company, Matteo said, “Fifty years in packaging is not just about longevity; it’s about resilience and reinvention. Our mission today is to be a strategic partner for brands committed to combining beauty, safety, and sustainability.”
The beginnings: Pioneering dispensing and airless systems
One of the factors that cemented Lumson’s unique expertise and turned it into a prestigious, forward-thinking, and groundbreaking company was its early pioneering of dispensing and airless systems.
Airless made in Europe is where Lumson shines and where the company has demonstrated its mastery over the years to serve the luxury beauty market. This allows European brands to manufacture locally and work with local new technologies in line with market needs.
An ever-growing portfolio
Over the decades, the company’s offering has gone from strength to strength. Today, the portfolio includes packaging solutions for skincare and make-up products, further reinforced by the 2017 acquisition of Leoplast.
Within this varied offering, Lumson features airless systems, glass and plastic bottles, jars, and droppers, as well as custom-made dispensing systems specifically designed for skincare and make-up products.
As a way to celebrate its 50th year in the industry, Lumson has recently launched a new packaging collection for fragrance products.

An unflinching commitment to sustainability
As highlighted in its most recent ESG report, Lumson remains utterly dedicated to sustainability. Not only does the company operate in full compliance with all the current sustainability standards and regulations, but it has also invested heavily in R&D revolving around the areas of mono-material systems, recyclable materials, and refillable packaging.
Its flagship TAG (Techno Airless Glass) System, for example, is a hybrid solution combining the luxurious look and feel of glass with the technical and functional benefits of airless solutions.
This is also the tangible proof that cosmetics packaging doesn’t need to compromise between aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability: Lumson consistently and successfully launches offerings that tick all these boxes, and then some.
Happy birthday, Lumson!
Fifty years have passed since Remo Moretti’s vision transformed into what is now a national packaging powerhouse, boasting four production sites, an R&D centre, and solid partnerships with prestigious cosmetics brands around the globe.
Today, Lumson keeps bringing its unmistakable blend of Italian craftsmanship and visionary innovations to the industry, whilst remaining extremely committed to sustainability in both its operations and its end products.
So, there’s only one thing left to say: Happy birthday, Lumson, and keep up the amazing work!
