How creative design can enhance consumer experience while ensuring sustainability

Sustainable beauty shouldn’t be at the expense of experience and efficiency. Creativity and design ensure consumer engagement in more sustainable packaging solutions.

From the inception of sustainable transformation to green innovation, suppliers are working hard to offer solutions that deliver exciting products.

FS Korea releases fully customisable sustainable brushes.

FS Korea has created a design with no glue in its makeup and skincare brushes to allow for easy dismantling and recycling.

It was its first approach to more sustainable brush development. Now, the secondary approach is to allow the disassembly of the brush, and the third approach is to offer the consumer a full customisation, from the head/brush style to the ferrule colour and handle colour.

In the evolution of the design, FS Korea has also developed a version with an integrated foundation added at the tip of the handle.

It is a squeezable brush. The holder can hold liquid products such as concealer, foundation, or highlighter. The user can pick the type of brush depending on their needs.

The brush is delivered disassembled to consumers, so they can put it together when first using the product. This way they would also learn how to separate it after use.

The brush is made of aluminium, PP and PE materials for full recyclability. Fibers are made of PBT and can be made in recycled PBT.

They went all the way to removing plastic waste from secondary packaging, with a Paper cover for brushes and recycled PET box (rPET).

FS Korea developed a refillable Grinder packaging for thick/solid formulas

The grinder/packaging is mono-material in PP (polypropylene) and offers a unique usage experience. It has a dial mechanism that allows for grinding the cream/formula onto the palette, like sharpening a pencil and creates a cool visual effect.

The packaging ensures hygienic use, avoiding direct contact from the finger (in the jar), which prevents contamination of sensitive formulas—a.k.a. organic formulas, formulas with reduced preservatives or high active proportions, or formulas with volatile ingredients, etc.

It also minimises air contact as the continuous grinding against the palette reduces air exposure, keeping the product fresh until the end.

The Grinder II is also refillable.
